About Caloocan City
Caloocan, city, northern Philippines, on the island of Luzon, in the National Capital Region, and part of metropolitan Manila. Caloocan is a residential and industrial suburb to the north of Manila on the eastern shore of Dagatdagatan Lagoon. Shoes and other consumer items are made here. The city has grown rapidly since World War II ended in 1945. In 1975 it was merged with Manila and other nearby urban areas to form a single administrative division under the Metropolitan Manila Commission. Population (1999 estimate) 1,157,881.
